The July 24 Martyrs’ Family Society, an organization of the family members of the July 24 Martyrs, has organized a memorial service in honor of the martyrs of the July Uprising. Although the name of Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus was written as the chief guest in the meeting, he did not attend in person. Although seats were reserved for other advisors, none of the advisors came to the meeting. Muhammad Rashed Khan, General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council, expressed his anger over this at a meeting at the China Friendship Conference Center on Saturday.
Rashed Khan is angry over advisors absent from July martyrs’ memorial service
Muhammad Rashed Khan complained at the meeting that the seats in the first row of the meeting were reserved for the advisors. However, not a single advisor attended. He said, “It feels very sad. It feels painful. Not a single advisor of this interim government has attended here today. This is a joke with the family of the martyrs. Why didn’t they come, for what reason didn’t they come, what is their job?” Is it painful to hear the words of this martyred mother, martyred father?’ Asking why the chief advisor did not come where the martyred family members were present, this leader of the Gana Adhikar Parishad said that the chief advisor did injustice to the martyred family by not coming.
Muhammad Rashed Khan questioned the role of advisors in the July Revolution in the meeting. He said, ‘Those who did not see a person being shot dead in front of their eyes. Those who never took to the streets in the past 15 years of struggle, the government was formed.’ Stating that he had visited each advisor for two months for the memorial meeting, General Secretary of the July 24 Martyrs’ Society Md. Rabiul Awal said, ‘If they did not come, they would not have done it. Why did they give false comfort.’ He criticized the advisors, saying that they had assured to attend even a short time before the program began. At this time, many members of the martyred family were seen leaving the meeting.
